Faux Silk, No Apologies: Why We Chose Recycled Satin Over Silk

People assume carrés have to be silk. Ours aren't, and we'd make the same choice again.

Every Sans Héritage carré is cut and sewn from a faux silk satin made of 100% recycled polyester (PES) — the fabric holds the same drape and sheen people expect from silk, without the sourcing footprint of the real thing. No silkworms, no virgin polyester, no minimum order pushing us toward overproduction. Each piece is made to order, in your size, when you order it.

It's not a compromise dressed up as a virtue. It's a fabric with real advantages: faux silk satin holds color well under bright print work, machine-washes more forgivingly than true silk, and costs less to make — which is part of why a carré that traces the French Riviera in Art Deco detail can sell for €39 instead of €300.

Heritage brands built their names on materials and methods passed down. We didn't inherit any of that — so we picked what actually works, not what tradition says we're supposed to use.
